According to Spain News, hotels of Spain account for the biggest number of overnight tourist stays in Europe, increasing by 6.4 per cent last year.

In total 287 million overnight stays were recorded in Spanish hotels, the highest figure among all EU countries. Foreign tourists account for 177 million of the total number of overnight stays in Spanish hotels, with British and Germans leading inbound tourism nations in the country and forming half of the total number of foreign tourists.

The Valencia region holds the third place by the number of overnight hotels after the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.

Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation (apartments, campsites and rural tourism) exceeded 102.8 million in 2011, representing an increase of 5.2% over 2010, according to figures released by the National Statistics Institute, Kyero.com has reported

Again, the British market was the top source in terms of apartments, with 17.1 million overnight stays, representing 9.8% more than in 2010. Next came Germany, with 8.3 million overnight stays and an annual rate increase of 1.1%.
